100 Most Popular American Internet Celebrities

Michael "Mike" Matei is an executive producer for Cinemassacre Productions. AVGN is not a real person, but a character created and played by James Rolfe. The character, an alter ego of Matei, eventually crossed over into game reviews as well. Like it when the reviews shine a light on a game I never played. I wouldn't mind so much if he just had a separate channel on youtube doing his own thing, but every time I see a new video hoping it's James it's usually Mike.

The series centers on Rolfe's character "The Nerd", a short-tempered and foul-mouthed video game fanatic who delivers commentary and sketches on retro games he considers to be of poor quality. The film follows Rolfe's signature Nerd” character as he reluctantly sets out to review E.T.” for the Atari 2600, widely regarded as the worst video game ever made.

I prefer NC's videos more, but I still have to give Mike Matei props for at least taking the time to make videos. The AVGN reviews Top Gun for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Development of the film began in late 2006, following the popularity of the Angry Video Game Nerd web series, with the completion of the screenplay by 2008.

On January 14, 2011, Mike Matei did his first solo video for Cinemassacre "How to Jump Over The Flagpole on Stage 1-1 in Super Mario Bros". I occasionally play character roles in some of our web series such as Mother-expletive Mike” on Board James, And I also manage the Cinemassacre YouTube channel , website , and social media pages.

Matei was also the one who encouraged Rolfe to upload the first AVGN videos to YouTube , since at the time he only wanted to make a trilogy of them. I also edit James and Mike Mondays That comes out weekly, so that means 52 of those videos in a year. Instead, Matei started his own spin-off series called "Mike's Game Glitches", where he showed the audience how to perform glitches and tricks Mike Matei in video games.

The jokes in the video are about as funny as the stuff you find on Uncyclopedia , with the Inspector Gadget impression saying hilarious things like "Minecrap" which leads to award-winning lines like this "I understand why all the kids are playing this game these days , it's because they love to build brown bricks with Minecrap.

James Rolfe serves as director, producer and co-writer and reprises his on-screen role of The Nerd. From the very beginning, The Angry Video Game Nerd was a giant leap forward. I was actually disappointed to see how short and irrelevant his cameo in AVGN the movie was, he should have played the Cooper character.

WatchMojo also called the Nerd as a "trendsetter" for other gamers and amateur reviewers online, influencing the likes of those such as the Nostalgia Critic, Angry Joe and others. Aside from that, I spend time with my girlfriend, who is also an avid Nintendo fan, and we enjoy antiquing and playing video games together in our spare time.

Rolfe's channel, JamesNintendoNerd, is currently the 171st most popular YouTube channel with over 928,000 subscribers and 421.9 million views, according to VidStatsX. In 2007, the series became a program on ScrewAttack and GameTrailers , where it was renamed The Angry Video Game Nerd to avoid trademark issues with Nintendo , and to allow Rolfe to review games from non-Nintendo consoles.

For Cinemassacre, I edit Monster Madness , which is 31 reviews in the month of October. Although Zelda was the overall theme of the interview, I could tell that Mike genuinely loves gaming in general. The AVGN reviews Tiger Electronics LCD games, Tiger Electronics wrist games, , and R-Zone.
